An English instructor asserted that​ students' test grades are directly proportional to the amount of time spent studying. Lisa studies 6 hr for a particular test and gets a score of 77. At this​ rate, how many hours would she have had to study to get a score of 97​?

Lisa has to study for 7.55 hours.

Explanation:

Since an English instructor has asserted that the relation between studies and test grades is proportional then we can find the time by unitary method.

∵ To score 77 Lisa has to study for 6 hours.

∴ To score 1 Lisa has to study for =
(6)/(77)

∴ For a score of 97 Lisa has to study =
(6)/(77)(97)

= 7.55 hours

So Lisa has to study 7.55 hours to score 97 in the test.
