Mi amigo Pedro es sueco, el nació en Suecia, pero Lucia nació en Perú, ella es peruana. María es alemana, ella nació en Alemania. Rolando es argentino, el nació en Argentina y Esteban es español, el nació en España.

Explanation: Spanish is not like English. In English countries and nationalities take capital letter or upper case at the beginning, but in Spanish just countries take upper case. Nationalities in Spanish are written in lower case.

Well, in Spanish there are some nicknames with countries, I will try to remember some:

Colombian or colombiano we say for example: él es colocho. Colombia is known as el país cafetero or the country of coffee.

Ecuadorian or ecuatoriano in Peru we say: él es mono, which means he is monkey. I am not being disrespectful it is the way we say it in Peru. Ecuador is known as Monaco but this is more a joke. Mostly Ecuador is just Ecuador or el país bananero ( country of bananas).

Chilean or chileno we say in Perú: él el roto, which means he is broken or él es mapocho. Chile is known as el país del Mapocho (the countrry of Mapocho, which it is a river in Chile)

Brazilian or brasileño we say : él el garoto, which comes from garota that means girl in Portuguese. Brazil is known as el país de la samba ( the country of samba)

American we say: él es yanqui or sometimes él el gringo. The USA is known as el país del tío Sam( Uncle's Sam's country) or el tío Sam.

Paraguay we call it el país del guaraní and Paraguayans or paraguayos are kown as guaranís. We say for example: él es guaraní, which refers to a dialect spoken in Paraguay.

Bueno en mi casa siempre hemos hablado español desde chiquitos puesto que el español es mi lengua madre y en la casa de Enrique también, yo pienso. Ahora, hablo inglés todo el tiempo debido a que soy profesor de inglés en un instituto de idiomas. Me encanta el inglés y adoro el español. Quisiera aprender chino y árabe.
