We were given rectangle EFGH with HE = 6 and FE = 8.

We want to find the diagonal GE,

From Pythagoras Theorem,



|GE|^2=|FE|^2+|GF|^2

Note that parallel sides of a rectangle are equal.


|GE|^2=6^2+8^2.




|GE|^2=36+64



|GE|^2=100



|GE| = √(100)



|GE| =10 \: units


QUESTION 2

We want to find |FJ|.


Note that


|FJ| = (1)/(2) |FH|
The diagonals of a rectangle are equal.

This implies that,

|FH| = 10 \: units

We therefore obtain,



|FJ| = (1)/(2) * 10
