Step-by-step explanation: The equation y = 4 can be thought of as y = 0x + 4.

So our slope or m equals 0 and our y-intercept or b equals 4.

To graph the line, we start with the y-intercept which is 4. So we go up 4 units on the y-axis and we will call that point A. From there we take our slope which in this case is 0. When the slope of a line is 0, the line must be horizontal.

So we draw a horizontal line through point A like I have done in the picture.

It may help you to memorize that when your equation reads y = a number, your graph will always be a horizontal line.
