Therefore for the congruence of these two triangles PR = SU

3y - 2 = y + 4

3y - y = 2 + 4

2y = 6 ⇒ y = 6÷2 = 3

For the value y = 3 both the triangles are congruent.

Perimeter of triangle PQR = Total of all sides = 4 + 6 + (3y-2)

= 8 + 3y

If y = 3 then perimeter of Δ PQR = 8 + 9 = 17
