QUESTION 3

The given relation is

(-4,7), (-3,5), (1,4), (3,-8), (5,-11)

There is no x-value that appears more than once in the relation.

Hence the relation is a function.

Since each x-value has different y-values, the relation is a one-to-one function.

QUESTION 4

The given relation is

(-4,8), (-2,4), (0,1), (2,4), (4,8)

There is no x-value that appears more than once in the relation.

Hence the relation is a function.

Since two different x-values, -2 and 2 has the same y-value of 4, the function is many-to-one.

QUESTION 5

The given relation is

(-2, 1), (-2,3), (0,-3), (1,4), (3,1)

There is an x-value that appears more than once in the relation.

-2 alone has two different y-values.

Hence the relation is NOT a function
