Explanation:

Let's work our way from the front of the equation to the back.

x^2 x 3x^2

to make this easier we are gonna separate the exponent and deal with that after.

x x 3x

Well that is basically 1 x 3 so that is 3. So we can easily cross out A.

Now we can deal with the exponents. When the equations are multiplying, we are gonna add the exponents.

2 + 2 = 4.

Okay, now let's deal with -5x and 2x

-5x x 2x

Easy, just multiply the numbers while adding the exponents like we did before.

-10x^2

And if you look at the 3 remaining answers

Only D. starts off with 3x^4 -10x^2

So eliminating the rest, now you are left it D as the answer
