Why was it difficult fpr Unions to succeed in the 1800s

It was difficult for Guild (medieval labor unions) members in the early 1800s because people would use workers outside the guild. Labor union increase in the late 1800's was primarily due to poor working conditions, unfair wages, inequality and lack of benefits. i hoped i helped <3
