Pretend the > is an =

6 - 2x = -14
-6 -6
———————
-2x = -20 \ __divide both
-2 -2 / numbers by -2

x=10

Bring back the original symbol >
But since you divided by a negative number you have to flip the sign. Now you should have <
So the answer is x<10
