The law making body that governs England is the British Parliament.
The Parliament of Great Britain is the United Kingdom's main lawmaking body. It is divided into a House of Commons and a House of Lords. The duties of the Parliament are: making laws ( legislation ), checking the work of the government ( scrutiny ), and debating current issues.
Some power to make laws is delegated to the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly and many local authorities.
The Queen is not allowed in the House of Commons except during the annual opening.
