we know that


2x+3y=705 -----> equation A


x=y+40 -----> equation B

substitute equation B in equation A


2(y+40)+3y=705


2y+80+3y=705


5y=705-80


y=625/5

Find the value of x


x=y+40 ---->
x=125+40=\$165
