Break it into 2 shapes.

A rectangle: 8 x 7 = 56 square inches.

A triangle: 1/2 x 3 x 4 = 6 square inches.

Total: 56 + 6 = 62 square inches.

Answer:

62 in^2

Explanation:

We have a rectangle and a triangle. We can add these shapes together.

The area of the rectangle is length times width

A = 8*7

A rectangle = 56

The area of the triangle is

A = 1/2 *b*h

The base is 7-4 = 3

The height = 12-8 = 4

A = 1/2 * 3*4 = 6

Adding the areas together

A = 56 + 6 = 62 in^2
