Answer:

The solution for the given system of equations using the linear combination method. is (-3, -8)

Explanation:

Given equations 4x - 3y = 12 and 7x - 3y = 3

We have to solve the system of equations using the linear combination method.

Linear equation method is a method in which we simply add or subtract he given equations which results in cancelling out of same terms.

Consider the Given equations

4x - 3y = 12 ........(1)

7x - 3y = 3 ...........(2)

Subtract (1) and (2) , we get,

⇒ 4x - 3y - ( 7x - 3y) = 12 - 3

Apply plus minus rule,
-(-a)=a we get,

⇒ 4x - 3y - 7x + 3y= 12 - 3

Simplify , we get,

⇒ 4x - 7x = 12 - 3

⇒ -3x= 9

Divide both side by -3 , we get,

⇒ x = -3

Put in x= -3 in equation (1) , we get,

⇒ 4(-3) - 3y = 12 ⇒ -12 - 3y = 12 ⇒ - 3y = 12 + 12 ⇒ 4(-1) - 3y = 24 ⇒ y = - 8

Thus, the solution is (-3, -8).

The solution for the given system of equations using the linear combination method. is (-3, -8)
