Answer: Limestone is a sedimentary rock containing carbonates, which gets dissolve when comes in contact with water. It is very prone to weathering, and undergoes chemical weathering.

Limestones when undergoes weathering, it develops certain features such as caves with stalagtites and stalagmites, karst topography, sinkholes and sometimes springs are also formed.

Limestone is easily weathered by acid rain. When rain mixes with gases such as sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, acid rain is formed (sulfuric acid and carbonic acid respectively). When the rain precipitates and meets with limestone which is CaCO3, it is weathered a shown by the formulae; 2CaCO₃ (s) + H₂CO₃ → 2CaHCO3 (aq)

Geographical features formed as a result of weathering of limestone in rocks are caves, stalactites, and stalagmites.
