Sandra Scarr developed a theory that your genotype (or your genetic make up; the traits passed down through your family such as freckles, needing glasses, a birthmark, etc.) can control and/or affect your life’s experiences.
The question is asking you to explain how your genetic makeup may have affected your upbringing in three different ways.
1. Passive Genotype: Discuss inheriting the love of an activity from a parent, grandparent, or ancestor such as being skilled at piano, singing, or enjoying being talkative or social.
2. Evocative Genotype: Explain traits that were developed or advanced by your environment such as being compassionate towards the needy or unfortunate due to being raised in a poor or destitute environment and knowing understanding the struggles that being poor may bring.
3. Active Genotype: Explain how you now choose environments that you want to be around that represent your traits such as joining a team, club, or organization.
