In the northern hemisphere what is the direction of the surface wind circulation in a high pressure system

The correct answer is - from west to east.

There's multiple winds that compose the global wind patterns, each of them with their own unique characteristics, and occupying certain part of the planet were they dominate.

In the Northern Hemisphere, where the high pressure zones dominate, the dominant winds are the Westerlies. These winds move from the west towards the east.

They occupy the space in the mid-latitudes between the tropical regions and the polar regions.

Unlike their counterparts on the Southern Hemisphere which predominantly circulate above water surfaces, the Westerlies on the Northern Hemisphere tend to circulate over much more land mass then them.
