Answer: Choice B) y can be -7, -1, 0, or 9

The range is the set of possible outputs or y values of a function. You simply list the values in the second column which are 9, 0, -7 and -1. Optionally you can sort this into ascending order from smallest to largest to get -7, -1, 0, 9.

We can say the range is {-7, -1, 0, 9} or we can be more detailed with the answer and say y so we make it clear that y is involved with the range.
