A) Rewrite the 2nd equation to get x = 2y -8

Replace x in the 1st equation with this.

3(2y-8) -6y = -8

Simplify:

6y -24 -6y = -8

Combine like terms :

-24 = -8

Since the 6y and -6y cancel each other out and -24 does not equal -8, there is no solution.

B) In order to have a solution, the two lines would need to cross each other. Since there is no solution, the two lines never cross each other.
