There is a proportional relationship between your distance from a thunderstorm and the time from when you see the lightning and hear thunder, if there are 9 seconds between lightning and thunder ,the storm is about 3 kilometers away if you double the amount of time between the lightning and thunder, do you think the distance in kilometers also double?justify your reasoning.

Answer:

Yes.

Explanation:

The relation would be 3 = k*9 as there is a direct proportional relationship.

So k = 3/9 = 1/3 and we can write the relation as d = 1/3 t where d=distance and t = time.

So if we double the time t we have:-

d = 1/3 * 18

= 6 kilometers.

So the distance is doubled.
