Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

p^4 + 4 p^3 + 5 p^2 -8p -3

Discussion:

( p^4 + 3p^3 -2p + 1) + (p^3 + 5p^2 - 6p - 4) => combine like terms

p^4 ( 1 ) + p^3(3 + 1) + p^2(5) + p(-2-6) + (1-4) =

p^4 + 4 p^3 + 5 p^2 -8p -3

Thank you,

MrB
