Answer:

Choice B is correct answer.

Explanation:

Given equation is :

x²-2x-62= 0

ax²+bx+c = 0 is general quadratic equation.

x = (-b±√b²-4ac) / 2a is quadratic formula to solve general quadratic equation.

Comparing given equation with general quadratic equation,we get

a = 1 , b = -2 and c = -62

Putting above values in quadratic formula: we get

x = (-(-2)±√(-2)²-4(1)(-62)) / 2(1)

x = ( 2±√4+248) / 2

x = (2±√252) / 2

x = (2±√36×7) / 2

x = (2±6√7) / 2

x = 2(1±3√7) /2

x = 1±3√7 is solution of given equation.

Answer:

Explanation:

The given equation is a quadratic which can be solved by quadratic formula or also completing the square.

we can easily complete the square here so using this concept on the given equation we get

x^(2) -2x-62=0\\x^(2) -2x +1^(2) -1^2-62=0

(x-1)^(2) -63=0\\(x-1)^(2) =63

Take square root on both sides of the equation which gives us

x-1 =√(63)

solution

x=1± sqrt{63}

x=1±3sqrt7

So option B is correct .
