Mrs. Peters noticed that her son, levi, grew quite a bit during 6th grade. If he was 66 inches tall at the end of 6th grade, how tall was he at the beginning of the year if his height increased 110%

Answer: 60 inches


Explanation:

Let x be the height of son in the beginning of the year.

If the height is increased 110% at the end of the year , then his height in the end of the year = 110% of x


=1.1x [since 110%=1.1]

Since, his height at the end of the year = 66 inches


\\\Rightarrow\ 1.1 x=66\\\Rightarrow\ x=(66)/(1.1)=60

Hence, the height of Mrs. Peters son in the beginning of the year is 60 inches.
