At a baseball game, a vender sold a combined total of 162 sodas and hot dogs. The number of sodas sold was two times the number of hot dogs sold. Find the number of sodas and the number of hot dogs sold.

Let hot dogs = X

So then soda would be 2x ( two times as much).

Now you have:

X + 2X = 162

Simplify:

3x = 162

Divide both sides by 3:

X =162 / 3

X = 54

2x = 54 *2 = 108

108 sodas and 54 hot dogs were sold.
