Answer:

10

Explanation:

Since we have a right triangle use Pythagoras' identity to solve for c

c² = 8² + 6² ← Pythagoras' identity

= 64 + 36 = 100 ( take the square root of both sides )

c =
√(100) = 10

The answer is 10

Because of the Pythagorean theorem, for sides of a right triangle (a triangle with one 90 degree angle) a, b, and c, where c is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the 90 degree angle), a^2 + b^2 = c^2.

We have a and b given in this problem, 6 and 8. We are solving for c. So 6^2 + 8^2 = c^2.

6^2 = 36, 8^2 = 64. 36 + 64 = 100. So c^2 = 100. The square root of 100 is 10, so c = 10.
