Answer:

6.7 is the value of x.

Explanation:

Given equations are

2x+2y=17 eq(1)

4x-y=25 eq(2)

from eq(2), we get

-y=25-4x

multiplying by -1 to above equation, we get

y=-25+4x

y=4x-25

subtitute above value of y in eq(1), we get

2x+2(4x-25)=17

2x+8x-50=17

add 50 on both sides of above equation, we get

2x+8x-50+50=17+50

2x+8x+0=17+50

2x+8x=17+50

add like terms

10x=67

dividing by 10 on both sides of above equation, we get

10x/10=67/10

x=67/10=6.7 which is the answer.
