Steps

  • Standard form: Ax + By = C (A, B, and C are integers and A is nonnegative)

So firstly, we have to make the fractions integers (AKA whole numbers). To do this, we need to multiply both sides by the LCD (Lowest common denominator) of 7 and 8. In this case, the LCD is 56 so multiply that on both sides:

-(2)/(7)*(56)/(1)=-(112)/(7)=-16\\\\(5)/(8)*(56)/(1)=(280)/(8)=35\\\\56y=-16x+35

Next, add both sides by 16x:

16x+56y=35

Answer

In short, the equation in standard form is 16x + 56y = 35
