Suppose you are going to graph the data in the table below. What data should be represented on each axis, and what should the increments be? Hours Distance traveled (miles) 1 60 2 35 3 45 4 65 5 55 6 62 7 12 8 65

Answer:

Explanation:

Your data consists of ordered pairs (t, d), where t represents time and d represents distance.

Time is the independent variable here; distance the dependent one.

Time should be represented on the horiz. axis and distance on the vert. one.

Since the smallest time value is 1 and the largest is 7, the logical increment size would be 1. Mark {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7} on the horiz. axis.

The distance measurements are {60, 35, 45, 65, 55, 62, 12, 65}.

Even tho' the smallest distance is 12, it's best to start marking the vert. axis at 0. The max distance is 65. Mark {0, 10, 20, ... , 70} on the vert. axis.
