A function h(x) is defined as h(x)=−5/7 x−3. By how much h(x) will decrease/increase, if x decreases by 21?

h(x) increases by 15 units.

Explanation:

Given that


h(x)=(-5x)/(7)-3\\ \\

This is nothing but a straight line with slope equal = -5/7

Hence rate of change of y with respect to x =-5/7

Or for a unit increase in we have 5/7 decrease in h(x)

Using the above we find that when x decreases by 21

we have h(x) to increase by 21(5/7)

=15

So y increases by 15 units
