As we see, two triangles are congruent triangles
So 36/42 = 6/x
<=> 6/42 = 1/x
<=> 6x = 42
<=> x = 7cm

Answer:

The value of x is 7 cm

Explanation:

Given the figure, ∠BAO=∠CDO

we have to find the value of x

AO=6 cm

OC=42 cm

OD=36 cm

In ΔBAO and ΔCDO

∠BAO=∠CDO (Given)

∠AOB=∠COD (Vertically opposite angles)

By AA similarity theorem, ΔBAO ≈ ΔCDO

∴ corresponding sides are in proportion i.e

(BO)/(OC)=(AO)/(OD)

(x)/(42)=(6)/(36)

x=7 cm

The value of x is 7 cm
