The easiest way to verify these claims would be to examine the treaties signed by the US government and compare the promises made to the American Indinas with the actual behaviour of that same government. Throughout the period of Western expansion, the government time and time again adopted a policy of Indian removal in order to gain lands for white settlers. The indians being removed were promised that their new lands would be theirs forever, but those promises were rarely kept. Whenever something of values was found in Indian lands, the treaties were broken and the Indians, removed. They were finally cornered in sterile reservations where they could not live according to their ancestral customs.
