A 341.3 Hz tuning fork is resonating in a closed tube on a cool day. If the tube has a length of 0.24 m, then what is the speed of sound in this experiment?

A) 328 m/s

B) 340 m/s

C) 343 m/s

f = frequency of tuning fork = 341.3 Hz

L = length of the tube in the experiment = 0.24 m

v = speed of the sound used in the experiment = ?

fundamental frequency in closed tube is given as

f=(v)/(4L)

inserting the values

341.3 =(v)/(4(0.24))

v = 4 (341.3) (0.24)

v = 327.65
(m)/(s)

hence the correct choice comes out to be A) 328 m/s
