To graph a linear equation, use the slope intercept form y=mx +b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. B is the starting point and m is like the directions on a map.

Here b=-1 so plot the point (0,-1). The y-intercept is always (0,b).

From (0,-1), move up 1 unit and over to the right 4 units since 1/4 is the slope. Plot this new point at (4,0). connect the two points.
