Answer:

A. 0.537

Explanation:

Number of people answering yes = 64

Number of people answering no = 70

Total number of people who answered = 64 + 70 = 134

Thus, the probability of answering yes = P(Y) =
(64)/(134) = 0.478

Further, out of 64 people answering yes, number of males = 6 and out of 70 people answering no, number of males = 8

We get, the probability of males answering yes = P(Y and M) =
(6)/(134) = 0.045

Since, total number of male = 6 + 8 = 14

Thus, the probability of males = P(M) =
(14)/(134) = 0.104

Now, as we have, P(Y or M) = P(Y) + P(M) - P(Y and M)

i.e. P(Y or M) = 0.478 + 0.104 - 0.045

i.e. P(Y or M) = 0.582 - 0.045

i.e. P(Y or M) = 0.537

Hence, the probability that the person answered yes or was a male is 0.537.
