C) Inhalation
Another method of drug administration is inhalation. When a person inhales a drug, smoke or vapors of the substance are drawn into the lungs. The drug's chemicals are then absorbed into the bloodstream through the pulmonary alveoli.
Along with the effect of the drug itself, inhalation can cause life-threatening damage to the respiratory system. Those who inhale drugs like marijuana and tobacco risk developing throat and lung cancer, in addition to reducing their ability to receive oxygen from the air they breathe.
