Hedda is considered to be an intimidating character because she is ruthless. She doesn’t care about other people's feelings, in fact she endeavors to hurt their feelings with her cruel comments at every chance. Hedda manipulates and humiliates others on a whim. She takes great pains to encourage Thea to confide in her and the first chance she has she breaks that confidence to humiliate her in front of Love borg. Speaking of Love borg she more than once has encouraged him to commit s Her desire for control and power causes her to act out to hurt everyone that she can. This is just how she is emotionally intimidating. She has also been known to be physically intimidating by threatening to set Thea's hair on fire or even to pull out her father's pistols and shoot them recklessly about the garden.
