The TVA - Tennessee Valley Authority changed the lives of many people during the Great Depression. Before the TVA most of the people who lived in the Tennessee River Valey were poor, had damaged farms and jobs were few, people who lived outside cities and towns did not have electricity.
The TVA was a part of Roosevelt’s New Deal, the agency was designed to help to control floods, produce electric power. This helped to improve the lives of people in the Tennessee Valley like we see in the map.
TVA produced many benefits, it employed thousands of people to work to build dams and other projects. Electricity was distributed to homes and farms, new phosphate fertilizers for farmers improved soil conditions and improved the production of farms in the state.
