The fertilisation occurs in the fallopian tube. By about the fifth day after fertilisation, the embryo finally reaches the uterus, where it implants itself in the endometrium, or uterine lining. Furthermore, implantation of a fertilised ovum is most likely to occur around 9 days after ovulation, however, this can range between 6 and 12 days.
