Y = -x - 1 and y = 1/2x + k intersect at the point (-2,1). Find the value of k.

Answer:

k = 2

Explanation:

(-2,1) = (x,y) So you substitute -2 and 1 for x and y

1 = -(-2) - 1 1 = 1/2 × -2 + k

1/2 × -2 = -1 -1 + 2 = 1

k = 2 1 = 1/2 × -2 + 2
