While justices for the Florida Supreme Court serve a single 6-year term, federal judges serve terms that are how long? Select one: A. at the discretion of the President B. up to two 10-year terms C. a four-year term D. for life during good behavior

D is the correct answer.

Unlike some State judges, who are term limited, federal judges have a lifetime appointment.

This was instituted to protect federal judges from the winds of political change, that is, to allow them to be apolitical judges outside of the political arena.

If a judge misbehaves, the United States Senate can consider impeaching the judge.
