In a survey at a local university, 42% of students say that they get less than the recommended eight hours of sleep per night. In a group of 4800 students, how many would you expect to get eight or more hours of sleep per night?

Answer:

2,784 people

Explanation:

So we know 48% don't get eight hours of sleep... so now we have to figure out of 100%, what percent gets eight or more hours.

100-42= 58

So 58% get 8 hours or more... this is equivalent to 0.58, which we can use to multiple against 4800.

4800*0.58= 2784

Therefore, 2,784 people received eight or more hours of sleep per night
