passions and impulses, but that it was not something to suppress because it was an important part of their nature. He also stated that man was not a superior creature above animals, but that the two of the living things were on the same level. The difference between Montaigne's thinking and the reality of the human being in modern civilization is that Montaigne postulated that the humans are creatures who cannot control themselves and their environment, in opposition to this idea, in modern civilization there is an established concept of an autonomous man that is able to control not only himself but also the world in a global way.

Also, in modern civilization, human beings are considered over animals in a rank of importance and general capacities. Man governs and controls animal life and the whole world.

Taking into consideration Montaigne view of human nature versus Modern civilization it can be said that Montaigne is quite incredulous as regards human's capacity to reduce and correct the worst actions of this modern civilization. Considering this perspective it can be mentioned that he believes that being skeptic is the only way that humans can take right decisions. He disbelief about the modern civilization ability to determine what is true or not and he also says that it is in part because of the emotional attachement humans experience.
