As per the statement:

There are 6 times as many males as females on the maths course at university.

⇒ M = 6F

Total number of person on the maths course = M + F = 6F+ F = 7F

we have to find the fraction of the course are male;


\text{Fraction of the course are male} = \frac{\text{Number of males on the maths course}}{\text{Total number of person on the course}}

Substitute the given values we have;


\text{Fraction of the course are male} = (6F)/(7F) = (6)/(7)

therefore, the fraction of the course are male is,
