I think it's important for young people to have LGBT+ role models so they grow up learning that it's okay and normal to simply be who you are. In a world where being LGBT+ was and still is so negatively stereotyped and was even (and still is to my knowledge) illegal in a lot of places, it is extremely important for young people to be able to normalize it within themselves and know that it's okay and valid whatever you may be.
