x=3 y=1

Explanation:

4x+3y =15

2x-5y=1

Multiply the second equation by -2

-2(2x-5y =1)

-4x +10y = -2

Add this to the first equation

4x+3y =15

-4x +10y = -2

13y = 13

Divide by 13

13y/13 =13/13

y =1

Now we need to find x

2x-5y =1

2x -5(1) =1

2x-5=1

Add 5 to each side

2x-5+5 =1+5

2x= 6

Divide by 2

2x/2 =6/2

x = 3
