The correct answer C) 1 x 10^8

The scientific notation is a method of writing the large digits in the form of exponents. The number of zero(s) are counted and then it is written as the power of the 10.

Here, we have to write 100,000,000 in scientific notation , we will have to move the decimal point to the left 8 places until it is after only one digit is left.

Answer;

C) 1 x 10^8

Explanation;

  • To in scientific notation we need to move the decimal point to the left until the first number is at least one but less than ten. The number of places that you have to move it becomes the exponent or the power of 10.
  • Therefore, to write 100,000,000, in scientific notation, we move the decimal point to the left 8 places until it is after the first digit.
  • The number of places that you move it becomes the exponent (8).
  • The exponent is positive because it is a big number. Zeroes at the end are not part of the answer because they were not significant.
