Notice that the triangles ABC and AMN are similar.

Thus:

$(AC)/(MN) = (AB)/(MB)\\\\(AC)/(6) = (8)/(4) = 2\\\\ AC = 12\,\,ft.$

12 ft I think because 18 would be too long
