So I view this as a rectangle and 2 triangles.

To get the area of a rectangle, you do base × height.

To get the area of a triangle, you do (1/2)base × height

Let's do the rectangle first.

14 × 10 = 140in²

The area of our rectangle is 140in².

Now let's do the triangles.

(1/2) × 4 × 14 = 28

However, there are two triangles, so the area of both amount to 56in².

Now, we add the area of the triangles and the area of the rectangles.

140 + 56 = 196

The area of this trapezoid is 196in²
