The Romans first code of law (The Twelve Tables 439 BC) was structured to deal with the issue of a social struggle between the Patricians and Plebeians, provide legal protection, social protection and civil rights to Patricians (Upper class) and Plebeians (Lower Class) and have it enforced by the magistrates. This code of law was the foundation for the Roman constitution.
