This graph shows the water level in a bathtub, in inches, over time (in minutes).

What situation could match the graph?

A. Alison turns on the water and allows it to run in the tub for a few minutes. Then she decides the water is too hot and allows some of the water to drain out of the tub before filling it up the rest of the way. After the tub is full, Alison takes a short bath. After the bath, Alison allows the water to completely drain from the tub.

B. Alison empties the water from the tub and then fills it halfway up again. She allows the water to sit for a couple of minutes and then checks to see if it is at the right temperature. It is a little hot, so she adds some more cold water to the tub. She takes a short bath and then allows half of the water to drain from the tub.

C. Alison turns on the water and allows it to run in the tub for a few minutes. She then turns the water off while she runs to answer the front door. Alison comes back and allows water to run into the tub for a couple more minutes before she takes a short bath. After the bath, Alison allows the water to completely drain from the tub.

D. Alison turns on the water and allows it to fill the tub. She then takes a short bath. After her bath, she allows the water to drain from the tub. After a couple of minutes, the drain gets stopped up with a washcloth and the water does not drain for a couple of minutes. Alison removes the washcloth and the rest of the water drains from the tub.

Answer:

The situation that would match the graph would be letter C.

Explanation:

The answer would be C because you can see in the graph that it starts at 0 and she allows it to fill then stops. In the graph you can see how for a few minutes the water is at the same height. After this the amount of water increases once again in the graph and then stays for a few minutes which is when she was bathing. Lastly, you can see the amount of water decrease back to 0 which is when she empties it out completely.
