When a society can achieve a minimum standard of living that is the end of that society. It will be replaced by one which does.

Of course, further defining achieving a minimum standard of living to 1) every individual or 2) the average of all people will mean that some such societies can carry on.

If an individual cannot support a minimum standard of living in a society in which most do, then the cause could be the individual or the societal structure (built-in inequality unrelated to individual abilities).

Some individuals, due to genetics, illnesses, or accidents can not achieve a minimum standard of living on their own. Whether or not the society provides it for them is a measure of the society and the ethics of its citizenry.
